About

François Mauriac is a major French writer of the 20th century, an important figure of Catholic literature. He was elected to the Académie française in 1933 and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1952. His novels explore the torments of the human soul, family conflicts and divine grace. Engaged in the Resistance during World War II, he was also an influential journalist. Among his famous novels are Thérèse Desqueyroux and Vipers' Tangle.
