“The spirited horse, which will try to win the race of its own accord, will run ever faster if encouraged.”
What this quote means
This proverb celebrates the power of encouragement. Even natural talent, intrinsic motivation, can be multiplied by a well-timed word. The spirited horse represents someone who already has drive; encouragement acts as an accelerator. In life, we often underestimate the impact of a compliment or support. A single word can turn effort into performance, a simple desire into determination. Knowing how to encourage is knowing how to reveal the best in others, without waiting until they are exhausted.
How to apply it daily
Pick someone whose enthusiasm you admire but who might benefit from support. Send them a specific, sincere message of encouragement, highlighting their progress or potential.
