Suzy Eddie Izzard, born in 1962 in Aden, Yemen, is a British artist known for surreal, stream-of-consciousness comedy influenced by Monty Python. Izzard won two Primetime Emmy Awards in 2000 for the HBO special Dress to Kill. On stage, Izzard was nominated for a Tony Award and won a Drama Desk Award for A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. Film roles include Mystery Men, Ocean's Twelve, and Valkyrie. Izzard is also known for activism as a transgender and gender-fluid person, and for athletic feats: 43 marathons in 51 days in 2009 and 27 marathons in 27 days in 2016. A polyglot, Izzard performed a one-person Hamlet in 2024-2025.
