Sonja Lang, born in 1978 in Moncton, New Brunswick, is a Canadian writer and translator. She is known for creating Toki Pona, a minimalist constructed language, which she published online in 2001. She authored the official textbook 'Toki Pona: The Language of Good' (2014) and the 'Toki Pona Dictionary' (2021). She also designed the logographic writing system sitelen pona and published a Toki Pona edition of 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' (2024). Lang grew up bilingual (French and English) and speaks several languages, including Esperanto. She has worked in cybersecurity and taught French. She resides in Toronto and is a follower of the Bahá'í Faith.
