Sidney Sheldon, born Sidney Schechtel in Chicago, had a prolific Hollywood career before becoming a bestselling novelist. An Oscar-winning screenwriter for 'The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer' and Tony winner for the musical 'Redhead', he created TV series like 'I Dream of Jeannie'. At 50, he published his first novel, 'The Naked Face', which won the Edgar Award. All 18 of his novels made The New York Times bestseller list, with over 300 million copies sold worldwide.
