About
Leïla Slimani is a French-Moroccan writer and journalist born in Rabat in 1981. After studying at Sciences Po Paris and ESCP Europe, she worked as a journalist for Jeune Afrique from 2008 to 2012. Her first novel, Dans le jardin de l'ogre, was published in 2014. In 2016, she won the Prix Goncourt for Chanson douce, becoming the twelfth woman to receive this prize. She then published the essay Sexe et mensonges (2017) and the trilogy Le Pays des autres (2020-2025). Committed to women's rights, she was appointed personal representative of Emmanuel Macron to the Francophonie in 2017 and received the Prix Simone de Beauvoir in 2020.
