Ginger Rogers, born Virginia Katherine McMath, was an American actress and dancer. She made her Broadway debut in 1929 and her film debut the same year. She became famous for her ten films with Fred Astaire, including 'Top Hat' and 'Swing Time'. In 1940, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for 'Kitty Foyle'. By 1945, she was the highest-paid Hollywood star. She published her autobiography in 1991 and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 1992.
