About

Douglas Noël Adams was born on 11 March 1952 in Cambridge, England. After studying English literature at Cambridge University, he became known for the radio series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1978), adapted into a bestselling novel in 1979. He wrote five volumes of that series, as well as the Dirk Gently detective novels and the non-fiction conservation book Last Chance to See. He also contributed to Doctor Who and founded a digital media company. An environmental activist, he died on 11 May 2001 in Santa Barbara, California.
