About
Claude Piron was a Swiss psychologist, psychotherapist, translator, and writer, born in Belgium. He worked as a translator at the United Nations in New York (1956-1961), then for the World Health Organization in Asia and Africa. He taught psychology at the University of Geneva from 1973 to 1994. An Esperantist since childhood, he wrote numerous works in Esperanto, including the instructional novella 'Gerda malaperis!' and the essay 'La Bona Lingvo'. He also published in French 'Le défi des langues' (1994), a psychological analysis of international communication. He used the pseudonyms Johán Valano and Johán Balano for some of his works.
