About

Channing Pollock (1880-1946) was an American playwright, journalist, and drama critic. Born in Washington, D.C., he began his career in 1896 as a drama critic for The Washington Post. He wrote more than thirty plays, including his greatest commercial success, The Fool (1922), which ran for over a year on Broadway and spawned six touring companies. He collaborated with Avery Hopwood on Clothes (1906) and wrote the English lyrics for 'My Man,' Fanny Brice's signature song. He also contributed to the Ziegfeld Follies of 1915 and 1921. Pollock published his autobiography, Harvest of My Years, in 1943, and a theatrical memoir, The Footlights, Fore and Aft, in 1911.
