About

Born in New York and raised in New Jersey, Anthony Bourdain graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1978. He worked for over two decades in New York City restaurant kitchens, including as chef at Les Halles brasserie. His essay 'Don't Eat Before Reading This' (1999) in The New Yorker launched his writing career, followed by the bestseller Kitchen Confidential (2000). He later hosted acclaimed television series such as No Reservations and Parts Unknown, which earned multiple Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award. He died in 2018.
