About
Born in Brussels in 1953, Yolande Moreau is a major figure in Belgian cinema and theatre. Trained at the Jacques Lecoq school in Paris, she began in theatre with her one-woman show before being noticed by Agnès Varda. She became known to the general public through the TV series Les Deschiens and the film Amélie. As a director, she made When the Sea Rises, which earned her two Césars in 2005, then Séraphine, for which she won a second César for Best Actress. She is the only Belgian actress to have received this distinction.
