About
Yanis Varoufakis, born on 24 March 1961 in Athens, is a Greek economist and politician. He studied mathematical economics at the University of Essex and mathematical statistics at Birmingham, before earning a PhD in economics from Essex. He taught at Cambridge, Sydney, and Athens. In 2015, he served as Greece's Minister of Finance during the debt crisis, then founded the DiEM25 movement in 2016 and the MeRA25 party in 2018. Author of several books, including 'Adults in the Room' and 'Technofeudalism', he is also honorary professor at Sydney and King's College London.
