Waleed Al-Husseini, born on June 25, 1989, in Qalqilya (West Bank), is a Palestinian essayist and writer. He studied computer science at the Arab American University in Jenin. In 2010, he was arrested by Palestinian authorities for allegedly blasphemous statements on his blog and Facebook. After ten months in detention, he fled to France, where he was granted political asylum in 2012. He co-founded the Council of Ex-Muslims of France in 2013. He is the author of several works, including 'The Blasphemer' (2015) and 'Une trahison française' (2017), and contributes to French media such as Le Monde.
