About
Victoria Amelina (1986-2023) was a Ukrainian writer born in Lviv. After studying computer science and working in IT, she devoted herself to writing from 2015. Her debut novel, 'The Fall Syndrome, or Homo Compatiens' (2014), inspired by the Euromaidan events, was critically acclaimed. Her second novel, 'Dom's Dream Kingdom' (2017), was shortlisted for the EU Prize for Literature. In 2021, she received the Joseph Conrad-Korzeniowski Literary Award. Following the Russian invasion in 2022, she joined Truth Hounds as a war crimes investigator, documenting atrocities and preserving the diary of writer Volodymyr Vakulenko. She died in 2023 from injuries sustained in a Russian strike on Kramatorsk.
