About
Tryon Edwards (1809-1894) was an American theologian and Congregationalist minister. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he was the great-grandson of the renowned theologian Jonathan Edwards. He served as pastor of the Second Congregational Church in New London, Connecticut, from 1845 to 1857. He is best known for his work 'A Dictionary of Thoughts' (1891), a compilation of quotations. He also edited the works of his great-grandfather and published several sermons. His saying about thoughts and destiny is inscribed in the Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress.
