Sylvie Testud is a French actress, novelist and director born in Lyon in 1971. Trained at Cours Florent and the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique, she gained international recognition with *Jenseits der Stille* (1996), which earned her the Deutscher Filmpreis. In France, she won the César for Most Promising Actress in 2001 for *Les Blessures assassines* and the César for Best Actress in 2004 for *Stupeur et tremblements*. She also received the European Film Award for *Lourdes* (2010). Alongside her film career, she has written several novels, including *Il n'y a pas beaucoup d'étoiles ce soir* (2003) and *Gamines* (2008). She was made a Knight of the Ordre national du Mérite in 2009.
