About
Suzanne Collins was born on August 10, 1962, in Hartford, Connecticut. The daughter of a U.S. Air Force officer, she earned a B.A. from Indiana University in 1985 and an M.F.A. in dramatic writing from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in 1989. She began her career as a children's television writer (Nickelodeon, PBS) before publishing her first novel, Gregor the Overlander, in 2003. She is best known for her Hunger Games trilogy (2008-2010), which was adapted into a successful film franchise. She has also written prequels and an autobiographical picture book. Her works explore themes such as survival, power, and media.
