Stevie Wonder, born Stevland Hardaway Judkins on May 13, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan, is an American musician who became blind shortly after birth. Signed to Motown at age 12 as 'Little Stevie Wonder,' he had his first national hit with 'Fingertips' in 1963. Wonder has won 25 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year three times, and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and received the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize in 2009. His album 'Songs in the Key of Life' (1976) was added to the National Recording Registry. He also won an Academy Award for the song 'I Just Called to Say I Love You' (1984) and was appointed a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 2009.
