Steve Martin, born August 14, 1945, in Waco, Texas, is a versatile artist. He began as a writer for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, winning an Emmy in 1969. He rose to fame in the 1970s with his comedy albums, including Let's Get Small and A Wild and Crazy Guy, which earned him two Grammy Awards. He then turned to film, writing and starring in hit comedies such as The Jerk, Roxanne, L.A. Story, and Bowfinger. Martin is also an accomplished musician, winning Grammys for his bluegrass album The Crow and for the song Love Has Come For You. He is the author of memoirs, plays, and novels. He has received numerous honors, including the Mark Twain Prize, Kennedy Center Honors, and an Honorary Oscar.
