Steve Carell is an American actor and comedian born on August 16, 1962, in Concord, Massachusetts. After graduating from Denison University in 1984, he joined The Second City improv troupe in Chicago in 1989. He gained prominence as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (1999–2005), then became famous for his role as Michael Scott on the US version of The Office (2005–2011), which earned him a Golden Globe in 2006. He expanded his range with dramatic roles, notably in Foxcatcher (2014), which brought him an Academy Award nomination, and voiced Gru in the Despicable Me franchise. He has been married to Nancy Carell since 1995 and has two children.
