About
Zygmunt Krasiński (1812-1859), full name Napoleon Stanisław Adam Feliks Zygmunt Krasiński, was a Polish poet, playwright and philosopher. He is regarded as one of Poland's Three National Bards, alongside Adam Mickiewicz and Juliusz Słowacki. Born in Paris, he spent most of his life abroad, often publishing anonymously to protect his father's position under Russian rule. His drama 'The Undivine Comedy' (1835) is a major work of European Romanticism, exploring class conflict. He is also noted for his correspondence, considered a pinnacle of Polish epistolary art.
