Sergio Badilla Castillo is a Chilean poet, journalist, translator and essayist, born in Valparaíso in 1947. He graduated in journalism from the University of Chile in 1972 and spent twenty years in exile in Sweden during the Pinochet dictatorship, where he worked as a culture journalist at Swedish Radio International. He is the founder of poetic transrealism, a movement that blends realism with dreamlike elements. Returning to Chile in 1993, he has published numerous collections, including 'La Morada del Signo' and 'Saga Nórdica', and has translated Scandinavian and Anglophone poets into Spanish.
