About
Rupi Kaur is a Canadian poet and illustrator born in 1992 in Punjab, India. Emigrating to Canada at age three, she grew up in Brampton, Ontario. She studied rhetoric and professional writing at the University of Waterloo. She began sharing her poetry on Tumblr and then Instagram in 2014, accompanied by her own line drawings. Her debut collection, 'milk and honey', self-published in 2014, achieved worldwide success. Her subsequent works, 'the sun and her flowers' (2017) and 'home body' (2020), solidified her fame. Her books have sold over 11 million copies and been translated into more than 40 languages. She writes exclusively in lowercase, with the period as her only punctuation, as a tribute to the Gurmukhi script of Punjabi.
