About
Rowan Atkinson is an English actor and comedian, famous for his roles in physical and silent comedy. He studied electrical engineering at Newcastle University, then earned a master's degree at Oxford University, where he began performing with the Oxford Revue. He rose to fame through the BBC sketch show 'Not the Nine O'Clock News' (1979-1982), then co-created the historical series 'Blackadder' (1983-1989) with Richard Curtis. He also created the silent character Mr. Bean (1990-1995), which achieved global success and spawned films and an animated series. Atkinson has appeared in films such as 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' (1994) and 'Johnny English' (2003-2018). He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2013.
