About
Roland Topor was a French artist of Polish origin, born in Paris in 1938. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and published his first drawing in 1958. In 1962, he co-founded the Panic Movement with Fernando Arrabal and Alejandro Jodorowsky. His first novel, The Tenant (1964), was adapted into film by Roman Polanski. He co-directed the animated film Fantastic Planet (1973), which won a prize at Cannes. Creator of the TV series Téléchat (1982-1986), he received the Grand Prix national des arts graphiques in 1981. He died in 1997.
