Roger Zelazny was an American science fiction and fantasy writer, born in Cleveland and died in Santa Fe. He earned degrees from Western Reserve University and Columbia, then worked for the Social Security Administration before turning to writing full-time. He is best known for his Amber series, but also for novels like Lord of Light. He won six Hugo Awards and three Nebula Awards, and was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame. His papers are held at Syracuse University.
