Rob Reiner, born March 6, 1947, in the Bronx, New York, was an American filmmaker, producer, and actor. Son of comedian Carl Reiner, he rose to fame as an actor in the sitcom All in the Family (1971-1979), winning two Emmy Awards. He turned to directing with the cult mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap (1984), followed by a string of acclaimed films such as Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Misery (1990), and A Few Good Men (1992). Co-founder of Castle Rock Entertainment, he was also a political activist, notably for equal rights. He died on December 14, 2025, in Los Angeles.
