About

Raymond Radiguet, born in 1903 in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés and died in 1923 in Paris, was a precocious French writer. A protégé of Jean Cocteau, he frequented the artistic circles of his time. He published his first collection of poems, Les Joues en feu, in 1920, and then his novel Le Diable au corps in 1923, which caused a scandal. His work, marked by sobriety and stylistic mastery, belongs to the neoclassical tradition. He died of typhoid fever at the age of 20, leaving a second novel, Le Bal du comte d'Orgel, published posthumously.
