Rafał Trzaskowski is a Polish politician born on 17 January 1972 in Warsaw. He studied international relations at the University of Warsaw and European studies at the College of Europe in Natolin, before earning a PhD in political science in 2004. A member of the Civic Platform, he served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2009 to 2013, then as Minister of Administration and Digitization (2013-2014) and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (2014-2015). He has been Mayor of Warsaw since 2018, re-elected in 2024. A candidate for President of Poland in 2020 and 2025, he narrowly lost the 2020 runoff to Andrzej Duda. He is also Vice-Chairman of the European People's Party.
