About
Radovan Karadžić is a Bosnian Serb politician and psychiatrist, born on 19 June 1945 in Montenegro. He co-founded the Serbian Democratic Party in 1990 and served as the first president of Republika Srpska during the Bosnian War (1992–1995). Indicted by the ICTY for genocide and crimes against humanity, he was arrested in 2008 after nearly 13 years as a fugitive. Convicted of genocide for the Srebrenica massacre and other crimes, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2019. He is also the author of poetry collections and a novel.
