Robert Lawrence Stine, born October 8, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio, is an American writer best known for his horror fiction for young readers. Graduating from Ohio State University in 1965, he began writing humor books under the pseudonym Jovial Bob Stine. His first horror novel, Blind Date (1986), became an instant bestseller. He then created the Fear Street series (1989) and Goosebumps (1992), the latter selling over 400 million copies worldwide. He has also written adult horror novels and received the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2014.
