About
Philippe Honoré, known as Honoré, was a French press cartoonist and illustrator born in Vichy in 1941. Self-taught, he published his first drawing at age 16 in Sud-Ouest. After working as an industrial designer, he devoted himself to press cartooning, contributing to many newspapers such as Le Monde, Libération, Les Inrockuptibles, and Charlie Mensuel. He joined Charlie Hebdo in 1992. He was known for his black-and-white style with thick, woodcut-like lines and literary and philosophical humor. He created the 'literary rebuses' published in Lire magazine, compiled in collections. He was killed during the attack on Charlie Hebdo on January 7, 2015.
