About
Philippe Claudel, born February 2, 1962, in Dombasle-sur-Meurthe, is a French writer, filmmaker, and screenwriter. An agrégé in literature, he taught in high schools, in a prison setting, and at university. His novel Les Âmes grises (2003) won the Prix Renaudot, and Le Rapport de Brodeck (2007) won the Prix Goncourt des lycéens. His first film, Il y a longtemps que je t'aime (2008), was awarded a BAFTA and a César. A member of the Académie Goncourt since 2012, he became its president in 2024.
