Olivia Colman, born Sarah Caroline Olivia Colman on 30 January 1974 in Norwich, is a British actress. Trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, she first gained recognition in comedies such as Peep Show and Hot Fuzz. Her dramatic career took off with the series Broadchurch (2013-2017). She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for The Favourite (2018), where she played Queen Anne. She portrayed Queen Elizabeth II in seasons 3 and 4 of The Crown (2019-2020), a role that earned her an Emmy. She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2019.
