About
Octave Feuillet, born August 10, 1821 in Saint-Lô and died December 28, 1890 in Paris, was a French writer. After studying at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand, he began his career in the Revue des Deux Mondes. He achieved great success with Le Roman d'un jeune homme pauvre (1858). Elected to the Académie française in 1862, he wrote novels and plays analyzing the manners of high society under the Second Empire, with a refined style and a focus on female psychology.
