About

Nikol Pashinyan was born on June 1, 1975, in Ijevan, Armenian SSR. He studied journalism at Yerevan State University but was expelled in 1995 for political reasons. He worked as a journalist and editor for several newspapers, including Oragir and Haykakan Zhamanak. He was imprisoned in 2010 for his role in the 2008 protests, then released in 2011. He led the Velvet Revolution in 2018, becoming Prime Minister. He led the country during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war and was re-elected in 2021.
