About
Mustafa Balel, born September 1, 1945 in Sivas, is a Turkish writer. He graduated from the Gazi Education Institute in Ankara in French philology (1968) and pursued a master's degree at the University of Poitiers (1971-1972). He taught in high schools in Ardahan, Sivas and Istanbul, then at the Atatürk Education Institute (1978-1980). He founded and edited the short-story journal Öykü (1975-1976). He served on the editorial committees of the Meydan Larousse (1986-1992) and Axis (1997-2001) encyclopedias. Author of short story collections, novels and children's books, he also translated major French authors into Turkish.
