Mignon McLaughlin was an American journalist and author, born in Baltimore in 1913. After graduating from Smith College in 1933, she worked as an editor at Vogue and later as managing editor of Glamour. In 1963, she published 'The Neurotic's Notebook', a collection of aphorisms on life and love, followed by 'The Second Neurotic's Notebook' in 1966. With her husband Robert McLaughlin, she co-wrote the play 'Gayden' (1949). Her aphorisms, often tinged with irony, were praised by critics, including TIME. She died in 1983 in Florida.
