Michio Kaku is an American theoretical physicist of Japanese descent, born in 1947 in San Jose, California. He earned his Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1972. He holds the Henry Semat Chair in Theoretical Physics at the City College of New York. Co-founder of string field theory, he has published over 170 research articles. Author of standard textbooks and numerous bestselling popular science books, he is also a renowned science commentator in the media.
