He is famous for his sharp dialogues blending Parisian slang and literary wit. He worked with directors like Georges Lautner and actors like Jean Gabin. He also directed nine films and published novels. He won the César Award for Best Screenplay in 1982 for 'Garde à vue'. He is the father of filmmaker Jacques Audiard.
