About
Mathias Énard, born January 11, 1972 in Niort, is a French writer and translator. After studying art history at the École du Louvre and Persian and Arabic at INALCO, he lived in Barcelona for about fifteen years, where he taught Arabic. His first novel, La Perfection du tir, was published in 2003. He won the Prix Goncourt in 2015 for Compass. A translator from Persian and Arabic, he co-founded the publishing house Scrawitch in 2011. Since 2020, he has hosted the program L'entretien littéraire on France Culture.
