Mary Higgins Clark, born December 24, 1927, in the Bronx and died January 31, 2020, in Naples, Florida, was an American suspense novelist. Known as the 'Queen of Suspense,' she published over thirty novels, all bestsellers in the United States, with more than 100 million copies sold. Widowed in 1964, she raised her five children alone and began writing radio scripts. Her novel *Where Are the Children?* (1975) brought her fame. She earned a philosophy degree from Fordham University in 1979 and received numerous honors, including the Grand Prix de littérature policière in 1980 and the Edgar Award for Grand Master in 2000.
