Margrethe Vestager, born 13 April 1968 in Glostrup, is a Danish politician. An economist by training (University of Copenhagen, 1993), she served as Denmark's Minister for Education and Ecclesiastical Affairs (1998–2001), then as Minister for Economic Affairs and the Interior and Deputy Prime Minister (2011–2014). She led the Danish Social Liberal Party (Radikale Venstre) from 2007 to 2014. As European Commissioner for Competition (2014–2024), she pursued antitrust actions against tech giants such as Google and Apple. She also served as Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for A Europe Fit for the Digital Age (2019–2024). Since 2025, she has been President of the Technical University of Denmark.
