Malcolm Turnbull, born 24 October 1954 in Sydney, is an Australian politician and businessman. A prominent barrister, he successfully defended MI5 officer Peter Wright in the Spycatcher trial in 1986. He co-founded OzEmail, Australia's first major internet company, and later worked at Goldman Sachs. A member of the Liberal Party, he served as MP for Wentworth from 2004 to 2018, held several ministerial posts, and became Australia's 29th Prime Minister from 2015 to 2018. His tenure saw the legalisation of same-sex marriage and the Snowy Hydro 2.0 project. He was appointed Companion of the Order of Australia in 2021.
