Leo Joseph Muir was born in Woods Cross, Utah, in 1880. He worked as a teacher and school principal, then served as Utah State Superintendent of Schools. He also served as mayor of Bountiful and as an LDS stake president. Moving to Los Angeles in 1922, he led businesses and published several works, including quotation collections and a history of Mormons in California.
