Layal Mounir Abboud, born May 15, 1982, in Kniseh, southern Lebanon, is a Lebanese pop and folk singer, also a lyric poet and dancer. She earned a master's degree in English literature and translation and studied musical expression at the American University of Science and Technology. She served as an officer in the Lebanese Internal Security Forces until 2005. Discovered on the show Studio El-Fan in 2001-2002, she released her debut album in 2007. Known for singing in multiple Arabic dialects, she has charted several singles on the Lebanese Top 20, including three number ones. She has received honors, including the Golden Award at the 2014 Cairo Festival.
