Laurent Gaudé is a French writer born in Paris in 1972. Author of novels, plays and poetry, he is published by Actes Sud. He received the Prix Goncourt in 2004 for his novel Le Soleil des Scorta, as well as the Prix Goncourt des lycéens and the Prix des Libraires for La Mort du roi Tsongor. His work explores themes such as war, exile and memory, often in Mediterranean or African settings. He also writes opera libretti and field reportage.
