Klaus Ebner, born August 8, 1964, in Vienna, is an Austrian writer of narrative prose, essays, and poetry. He writes primarily in German but also composes poetry in Catalan, and translates French and Catalan literature into German. After studying Romance and Germanic philology and translation at the University of Vienna, he published his debut short story collection, Lose, in 2007, followed by the short novel Hominide in 2008. His first Catalan poetry volume, Vermells, appeared in 2009, and his essay collection Dort und anderswo in 2011. He has received several awards, including the Austrian Youth Prize in 1982 and 1988, the Vienna Workshop Prize in 2007, and the Parc Taulí Poetry Prize in 2014 for his Catalan collection Blaus.
