About
Khalil Gibran, born in Bsharri (Lebanon) in 1883, emigrated to the United States in 1895. After studies in Beirut and Paris, he settled in New York in 1912. A leading figure of the Pen League, he wrote in both English and Arabic. His most famous work, The Prophet (1923), achieved worldwide success. A prolific painter, he left over 700 works. He died in New York in 1931.
